2SLGBTQIA+ Counselling

Queerness is a natural and beautiful part of human diversity
You may be navigating your gender or sexuality, supporting a loved one with their identity, or simply want a therapist who understands what it’s like to be queer. Whether you’re queer, questioning, straight, cisgender, or are wanting to be a loving ally, I’m here to support you. This includes Two-Spirit, trans, non-binary, gender diverse, intersex, asexual, aromantic, bi/pan/omni, lesbian, gay, poly, unlabelled, and more identities.
About 4.4% of Canadians (1 in 23), and 10.5% of youth (1 in 10) self-identify as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and this is likely an underestimate – you’re not alone, you’re part of a welcoming and diverse community.
Affirming Counselling
I use a person-centred and identity-affirming approach in my work – you are the expert of your life and identity, I’m simply here to help you explore your authentic self, if that’s something you’re interested in, and tune into your inner wisdom. Certainty, uncertainty, fluidity, and change, are all okay here.
Part of our time together may include acknowledging the harmful impacts of transphobia, homophobia, biphobia, aphobia, intersexism, heterocisnormativity, and how this intersects with misogyny, racism, colonialism, and more. This systemic oppression can (understandably!) contribute to anxiety, depression, stress, and more, and you deserve to not be alone with this.
Regardless of progress made and unmade towards acceptance and inclusion in the world, queer and trans people have always existed and always will. Whatever your identity is, you belong here, and are part of this world.
